Lindsay D. McAulay, LCMHC

Lindsay has been practicing therapy for 15 years. A Raleigh native, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her master’s degree in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University. Lindsay received her training in New York City and worked in a variety of capacities, including community mental health, substance abuse treatment, crisis intervention, corporate counseling, and career coaching. She moved back home to Raleigh in 2014 where she began her private practice. Lindsay’s clinical interests and expertise are vast, with a specific focus on anxiety and stress, self-esteem and identity development, and relationship dynamics.

Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, Lindsay worked in advertising sales for Vogue magazine and corporate sales for Ferragamo, USA and Michael Kors, Inc. in New York City.

Lindsay co-founded LiveWell Therapy in 2021. She lives in Raleigh with her husband and three children.

Kara B. King, LCSW

Kara has been in clinical practice for over 15 years. Originally from the Northeast, Kara began her undergraduate education at Northwestern University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English, and a minor in Psychology, from Colgate University. Kara received a Master of Social Work with a Clinical Concentration from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Prior to moving to Raleigh and co-founding LiveWell Therapy, Kara worked within a variety of clinical settings, including: community mental health, public secondary schools, and as a counseling center staff clinician at Marymount University, where she served for 10 years. Kara’s clinical experience is diverse and broad with a focus on anxiety, depression, relationships, identity formation, life transitions, and grief/loss.

Before becoming a therapist, Kara worked in advertising sales for InStyle and in public relations for Condé Nast Traveler magazines in New York City. She then served for several years as a public relations specialist at Grow, an experiential-marketing and PR firm in San Francisco, CA.

Having lived her adult life in Chicago, San Diego, New York City, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., Kara is happy to now be at home in Raleigh, NC with her husband, three children, and sweet dog, Honey.
